VFC and the Aston Villa Shareholders Association felt that if the club could not mark the sterling contribution made to Aston Villa by these players, then it was up to the fans to do so.
Ian Taylor and Ian Taylor were amongst the club's longest servants and have always given 100% commitment to the club. In the opinion of many fans, the manner in which they were released by the club failed to show them the respect that is due to them - and it highlights the alienation of the Board from so much of the Villa community.

Ian and Alan, a collection of messages from fans who appreciate what you have done for our club over the years.
We hope you enjoy them and would like to add our warmest thanks for each and every one of those crunching tackles, headers, shots and great goals.
Best wishes for your futures, you will always be remembered as claret and blue!
Navid Nazir and Jonathan Fear
Big thanks to both Ian and Alan! The two of you have made outstanding contributions to my beloved club. I fondly remember the thrashing of Leeds in the 96 LC final where the both of you made the Villa proud. The European nights at VP is also a lot down to your contribution.
I hope you both will have good memories of us fans too and never forget that no matter what certain boardmembers are up to, loyal players of Aston Villa will never be forgotten by the ones that really matter.
Best of luck to both of you in the future.

I would like to add my heartfelt best wishes to Ian Taylor and Alan Wright, who have performed magnificently for this club. Alan with an outstanding run in the side, and an amazing ability to win headers despite his size. Ian, as a true Villa fan, who I have seen sat in the stands at a few away games with us, who always gave 110%.
I wish you all the best for the future, and success in everything you do.

Ian and Alan,
A big thank you for so many years service to the Aston Villa.
I sincerely feel that Aston Villa be a lesser club with you gone.

Ian Taylor, Thanks for some wonderful memories and important goals. It always felt with Ian that there was one of us out there laying. You could tell it mattered more than money. I think we'll miss that.
As for Alan Wright, he never let us down really did he? And when he scored.........I remeber a screamer against Spurs and another one against Basle in the Intertwobob (I think).
'Gornal Villa'
Good Luck to the both of you.
Ian, thanks for the hard work, the goal against Leeds in the 96 Cup Final and also the seasons opener against M.U. that year.
Alan, thanks as well. I dont know of anybody else who can jump higher than Peter Crouch to head a ball away. cracking goal against Middlesbrough too-on the volley if my memory serves me well.

Ian - Wembley Goal.....say no more
Alan - thanks, good luck - I still say a few years ago you were worth a run in the England side!
Denis B.
Never forget Wrightys goal against Blackburn away, when we had a good team that one season.....aaah we even beat Man United that year didn't we?
As for Taylor too many great goals to mention but I was in the Holte when he scored against Chelsea on his home debut, we beat them 3-0 and I've never seen a Villa player look more delighted to score in front of the Holte. Well apart from Mark Walters that is, except he was playing for fecking Liverpool when he did it, the b'stard.
'Witton Lane'
Best memory of Ian Taylor -
The winning goal against West Ham in the league cup quarter final at West Ham, the one we had to replay - probably he's best game for Villa and at that time as good as any midfielder in the country.
Plus his goal in the League Cup Final against Leeds. Great committed player
Alan Wright:
All round consistency, never seen him taken to the cleaners and even remember him winning a defensive header against Duncan Ferguson. The goal against Middlesboro, was class too.
Thanks to both of you and despite your treatment by the club dont be strangers to Villa Park!
